Frequently Asked Questions
I hope the following question and answer section will go some way to enable you to feel confident to engage in Counselling:
What is Counselling?
Counselling is a therapeutic process whereby individuals engage in a relationship designed to facilitate change by providing support and a nurturing environment.
Is Counselling for me?
Counselling may not suit everyone and for this reason I offer the first consultation session (usually 30 minutes) entirely free so you can decide for yourself.
How much will it cost?
My fee is £40 per session for counselling and £40 per session for supervision. here is room for some negotiation given personal circumstances.
How long will Counselling last?
The number of sessions is agreed and contracted for at the outset and can vary dependent upon issues to be worked with. I offer both short and long term work. Regular reviews take place to assess progress towards resolution.
What happens if I miss a session?
You will have a regular day and time for your sessions. I require at least 24 hours notice to cancel a session. Without this you will be charged for the missed session. However, this is open to negotiation in case of an emergency.
Will Counselling help?
In my experience, yes it can. It can be daunting and may have taken weeks before a decision to come for counselling is reached. Counselling can provide opportunities for greater self awareness and increased confidence. You will only really know if you try it for yourself. I offer a free, initial consultation in order to answer any concerns you may have.
What does 'Integrative' mean?
Integrative encompasses the different therapeutic models studied during my training. This has led to an understanding of how best to work with individuals. Thus, counselling is tailor made to meet your needs.
What if I have a complaint?
I am bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and Confidentiality procedures. This means you are able to make a complaint through the BACP. I undertake regular supervision with a supervisor more experienced than myself to ensure that my practice is of the highest standard.
